Without making much noise the Cubs of Chicago were placed among the favorites to sign reliever Craig Kimbrel.
On Wednesday the team managed to reach an agreement with the free agent reliever according to information from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The agreement would be for several seasons. Hours after making his signature official it was announced that his agreement was for 3 apos and $ 43 million dollars with an option for a fourth year.
The Cubs did not have to hand over any draft selection to the Red Sox after the amateur draft date.
Kimbrel pitched in a total of 63 games with a 2.74 ERA with 42 saves.
