With the offseason getting a little bit hotter this past couple of days, with the Rays sabotaging themselves and the bomb that the Padres dropped this Saturday by signing Eric Hosmer.
Bryce Harper still can't believe that starter Jake Arrieta, who could wind up with the #Nats, is still unemployed: "I'd put him on my staff any day of the week. I mean he's one of the best pitchers in the game, one of the best playoff pitchers in the game. You saw what he did.''— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) 19 de febrero de 2018
Bryce Harper doesn't want to get left behind by all these signings, as he explicitly said that he cannot believe that Jake Arrieta stills a free agent, and stated that he would want Arrieta to be in the Nats "any day of the week" as reported by Bob Nightengale.
Bryce Harper: I will not be discussing anything not relative to 2018 at all. 'IF you have any questions about anyting after 2018, call Scott (Boras) and he can answer.''— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) 19 de febrero de 2018
Arrieta, who won the 2016 World Series with the Cubs, remains unsigned and the reported teams that are willing to land the RHP are the Brewers. Meanwhile, the Nationals are not heavy contenders for the pitcher sign, but they might be hearing their superstar Bryce Harper, who is going to become a free agent in 2019.
There are many reported teams preparing to make a deal when Harper becomes a free agent, one of them being Arrieta's former team, the Cubs. Maybe this is a wake-up call for the Nationals, as Harper wants to play for a contender team, and bringing Arrieta to Washington could max their possibilities of keeping the slugger.
