Several power hitters are in the free agency market this winter and although the market has moved very slowly, the St. Louis Cardinals have been the most aggressive team, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Dispatch.

It seems getting back to the playoffs next year is very important for the "Red Birds".

Goold explains that the Cardinals President of Baseball Operations, John Mozeliak has had talks with the majority of power hitters in the market and talks of a trade with the Marlins for players like Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna.

Some managers from other teams told Goold that the Cardinals are being aggressive in their negotiations.

The team is willing to add a high salary to their payroll in order to improve their offense that was one of the reasons that left them out of the postseason in 2017.

Players like Eric Hosmer, Jay Bruce, Carlos Santana, Mike Moustakas and others are all on the Cardinals radar.

The only top hitter the team hasn't looked into is J.D. Martinez due to his defensive struggles in the outfield.

But, if they can't land any other big bat they would take a last minute look at the slugger who hit 45 dingers in 2017.
