The Twins are still looking for options to strengthen their starting pitching.
Several reports suggested that the team from Minnesota would be looking to sign one of the best arms in free agency like Jake Arrieta or Yu Darvish.
But according to Mike Berardino of TwinCities.com, the team has entered into negotiations with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays for Gerrit Cole and Jake Odorizzi respectively.
Cole finished the season with a 4.26 ERA and a 12-12 record in a total of 33 starts and has a contract for the next two seasons but will be subject to arbitration.
On his part, Odorizzi finished the season with a record of 10 and 8 as well as a 4.14 ERA in a total of 28 games as a starter. The Rays pitcher also has two more years under contract both with arbitration.
The Twins, who ended up as the wild card last season, will fight for the AL Central Division with the Cleveland Indians since the Royals, White Sox and Tigers will all be in a rebuilding process in 2018.
