There has been a lot of speculation regarding J.D. Martinez situation, as a deal was reported to be reached by the player and the Boston Red Sox as early as this past Monday, with the official announcement expected to be made on Thursday, but for whatever reason, this announcement hasn't happened yet, triggering some rumors about J.D.'s fitness.
Various reports said that the main issue regarding the lack of an official release was the player's physical. But according to a report of Evan Drellich of NBC Boston, Martinez' health and readiness to play is not in question, as additional medical experts called by J.D.'s agent, Scott Boras, are involved in the medical examination.
This, of course, has delayed the announcement, but according to Drellich's information, both parts will reach an agreement as early as this Saturday. Also, the Boston Red Sox wanted to extreme precautions about Martinez's health and wanted to be sure that any potential issue remained on the sidelines.
J.D. Martinez had an outstanding 2017 season; he averaged .303 with 45 HR's and 104 RBI's while he played for the Detroit Tigers and the Arizona D-Backs.
