The former Houston Astros prospect, Danry Vasquez was released from his team, The Lancaster Barnstormers from the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, after a surveillance video showed him abusing his girlfriend.
According to TheScore.com, the video was obtained by a local media outlet in Corpus Cristi, Texas, through a request. The video shows the Venezuelan hitting his girlfriend at Whataburger Field, which is home to the Astros' Double-A team. The video is dated August 3rd of 2016.
In a statement, Barnstormers' manager Ross Peeples said about this incident:
There is no choice but to sever the relationship. Neither I, nor the Barnstormers’ organization as a whole, can condone or associate with that behavior.
This is not the first violent incident where Vasquez has been involved, as the Astros release him and was suspended indefinitely by MLB as he was suspect of family violence and was arrested.
