There has been much talk in recent months about whether the Major Leagues should add an expansion team or relocate an existing franchise to another city; in the last case, the Tampa Bay Rays are one of the main candidates to move the team to another location.
On the other hand, Portland is the city that is making everything to assure themselves to have Big Leagues' baseball in town. With the Portland Diamond Project leading the way towards having an MLB team in Oregon, they are getting a lot of support from everywhere, including some NFL personalities.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback and Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara have become investors of the Portland Diamond Project, according to Andrew Greif of The Oregonian.
In a press release on the newspaper, Russell Wilson stated: "It is time for MLB in Portland".
The Seahawks' quarterback has some history with baseball, as the Pro-Bowler was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2010 and spent some time in the team's minor leagues system; eventually, Wilson choose to play football instead. Also, during this Spring Training, the quarterback trained at the New York Yankees camp.
