Yankees prospect and young talent, Thairo Estrada is having an awful 2018, and all indicate that his baseball life may be over. The Yankees prospect, made it into the headlines at the start of the year, after he was shot in his native Venezuela.
In late January, the player was assaulted in Bejuma, Venezuela, and was shot in the hip during the crime committed against him.
Thairo Estrada recovered after being hit by a bullet and the shortstop had the opportunity to make a comeback during the Yankees Spring Training sessions.
However, after just 18 games, he suffered a back injury that according to D.J. Eberle of Time's Leader, would put him in a very difficult situation to return at least this season.
