The Cubs of Chicago announced a few new hirings on Tuesday in an attempt to shake up its staff going in to 2018..

It was through the team's main account on Twitter that they made official the signing of Jim Hickey as the new pitching coach, as well as other moves in their staff.

One of them was the promotion of Brandon Hyde to bench coach and Will Venable as the first-base coach.

They also made it known that Jim Benedict was hired as the team's new special assistant baseball operation

The highlight of the announcement was the incorporation of the former San Diego Padres and Dodgers outfielder, Venable, 35 years old, who just in 2016 made his last appearance in the "Big Show".

Venable registered a lifetime average of .249 with 81 homers, 307 runs batted in 11 seasons.
