The young infielder Luis Urías will receive the vote of confidence to cover the short stops of the San Diego Padres, said the same manager Andy Green at a press conference.
Green is confident in the talent of the Mexican so he expects Urias to cover the shortstop for the rest of the season, said Dennis Linn of The Athletic.
Andy Green said Luis Urías will remain at shortstop for the rest of the season. He expressed faith that Urías will revert to being a solid option there. He also mentioned that the infielder will need to earn the right to be a starter in 2020. pic.twitter.com/DUlvxdImRt— Dennis Lin (@dennistlin) September 4, 2019
In the same way the foreman did not hide the confidence he has in his player, so he did not forget to mention that Uriah is another option for the position.
He also made it clear that the 22-year-old infielder will have to gain ownership for the 2020 season. Uriah was called back to the majors in mid-July.
Since then, he has served as shortstop and third baseman.
