Angel Hernández is a controversial figure amongst all the MLB because of his character and very usual bad calls as an umpire, as he is widely regarded as the worst official in all the Major Leagues. But during Game 3 of the ALDS between Yankees and Red Sox, Hernández got exposed really bad.
During that game, Hernández got three calls overturned by the instant replay review that MLB implemented years ago. The first one was a close play during the second inning, where Hernández called safe on Didi Gregorius after a bunt. The Red Sox challenged it and during the review, the umpires called the out.
The second one came up in the third inning when Gleyber Torres hit a ball in the middle of the infield which Xander Bogaerts barely reached and made the throw to first base, which Hernández called as an out. The play was reviewed and it turned out to be safe.
The third and last one was a Didi Gregorius' ground ball to second, that Boston infielders managed to make the double play, with Hernández calling the out at first. Again, the play was challenged and Gregorius was safe at first base.
