Many marquee free agents that remain unemployed during this offseason, like Mike Moustakas, Lance Lynn, and Jonathan Lucroy all have reached deals in recent days, with Jake Arrieta being the last All-Star caliber player that stills unsigned. But this can change in the next couple of days.
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Philadelphia Phillies may be agreeing on a deal with Arrieta in the next days. The Phillies were reported in the last days to be interested in bringing the pitcher to Philadelphia, and now they look like the favorites to land the World Series Champion.
The Nationals, Brewers, Rangers, Orioles, and the Yankees were amongst the teams that reportedly had an interest in Arrieta, but ultimately, are now the Phillies that are now in better position than any other team.
During 2017 season, Arrieta had a record of 14-10 during 30 games started, with an ERA of 3.53 and notching 163 K's.
