The Cubs' Kris Bryant is getting a mini All-Star break.
Bryant, who is 0-for-15 over his past four games and has not hit a home run since May 14, did not start in Wednesday's series finale against the Brewers. The Cubs have an off-day on Thursday.
"I wanted to give him a day off and then he gets two," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said of Bryant, who was batting .281 overall. "It's also a day game after a night game. I like to take advantage of a day off by giving a guy a day off in front of a day off so he gets his little mini All-Star break and they feel better after that."
Bryant's homerless streak of 24 games is a career high.
"He's just been off with his swing a little bit, and he looks fatigued a little bit and I just want to get him off his feet," Maddon said.
