Shohei Ohtani suffers against Mexican team
It was time for the Japanese wonder, Shohei Ohtani, to prove himself again on the mound. This time he was going to face Mexican League side Toros de Tijuana, who are the reigning champions of the AAA Level league.
There have been more 90s and 91s on scouts’ radar guns for Shohei Ohtani’s fastball today than 95s. He has allowed six runs in three innings to the Tijuana Toros.

It seemed to be an easy test for Ohtani, but it turned out to be an awful opening for the Nipponese; he pitched three innings, where he allowed 6 hits, 6 runs (5 of them earned), hit two batters and walked other two. He threw 65 pitches and also got 2 K's.
I have now seen Shohei Ohtani pitch and I am sure the 30 teams that so wanted him saw way better than this. Slider was very good but plenty of hangers. Fastball 92-94 not 97-99 and trouble locating #Angels.

Some scouts report that Ohtani's fastball reached 95 mph and his slider was on point but left so many pitches hanged.

Despite this terrible outing, there's no doubt of the Japanese potential as he caused sensation amongst MLB teams with his impressive numbers in the Japanese League, where showed immense skills with his arm and with the bat. He has a record of 42-15 with an ERA of 2.52 and 624 strikeouts. In the other side, he batted a .282 AVG with 296 hits, 48 HR's and 166 RBI's.
